Eduard Wimmer-Wisgrill

Wimmer-Wisgrill was a young designer working in the context of the Austrian Wiener Werkstatte movement. His work was often rectilinear and embellished with rich materials.

These two chests of drawers are interesting for there materials. the design is the same but the materials make for very different objects. the lighter chest is primarily boxwood. The lines within the rectangles as well as the center motifs are ebony and the stinging around all the drawers is mother-of-pearl.

The darker chest is ebony and the details are mother-of pearl.

I can’t decide which I like the best.

They were both built in 1908.
